August is historically a volatile month

The stock market might see a lot of volatility in August according to Samuel Stovall, chief investment strategist at CFRA. He suggests that volatility is likely to pick up as we enter August.

This is also supported by historical data for August, it tends to be a volatile Month. Though, no one really expected July to turn out as good as it did.

There was a lot of tensions in Europe, talks about trade wars and unresolved issues between countries. This normally creates uncertainty and affects the stock market negatively. However, July was a strong month with good results.

Wait and see

Be aware of August as it might be more volatile, but don’t take anything for granted as many experts predicted July to be volatile as well. Though July saw a lot of gains and in general, it was a very good month.

It will be interesting to see if August can prove the experts wrong again, and if not, Q4 is not too far away.
