Due to yesterday being labor day, the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq Composite traded more or less horizontal, experiencing few to no gains.

The same goes for the Dow Jones that dropped 0.085 percent.

Stocks

The American stock markets are opening today after a long weekend and we can expect to see some movement early on.

Analysts are putting their money on Cisco for the month of September and the last part of 2018. The company’s relatively small market cap is said to perform better than tech giants such as Apple and Microsoft.

We have a couple of reports from the American market coming in today such as Interim 2019 Earnings Releases from Workday, HealthEquity, and SmartSheet.

Forex

USD has remained strong and is set to start moving as the American markets start opening up.

GBP plunged during Monday and marked one of the worst trading days in over a month. With three PMIs planned for later today, we are keeping our eyes on the GBP for the day.

AUD also fell and broke an upward trend from early 2016 with more losses looming for Tuesday.

Commodities

Gold has been weighed down by a stronger dollar and the metal is getting more expensive for holders of other currencies.

Cryptocurrencies

Similar to the American stock market, the cryptocurrency market traded horizontal during Monday with few large gains and losses.

Bitcoin has kept steady above $7,200 and is currently up 0.50 percent since yesterday.

Ethereum dropped slightly during Monday and has lost a total of 1.97 percent since yesterday morning. XRP did a little better with losses of 1.52 percent during the same time period.

The biggest gainers since Monday are Holo, Komodo, and Dropil, with Monero coming in on a fourth place. Holo, that tops the list, gained 21.37 percent.

The biggest losers since yesterday are MOAC, Bitcoin private, and Maker with losses of 15.51, 9.24, and 3.75 percent respectively.

According to a recent study, IBM and Alibaba top the list of the most filed blockchain patents globally.
