This week we can report on news from all over the industry. We will be discussing the ongoing trade war between the world’s two leading economies, a fintech deal that could change the industry, soaring tech stocks, and the IFX Expo that’s being held in Cyprus. In addition, we have two major news announcements from the cryptocurrency market including information about a new exchange and wallet that will be launched during 2018. Also, the NYSE just made history by appointing a new president.

The trade war between the United States and China has gone through some major developments. Over the weekend, the two nations came to an agreement that some of the recently implemented tariffs were going to be lowered. For example, China lowered the tariffs for several commodities such as soybeans and beef as well as on American cars where tariffs were lowered from 25 percent to 15 percent.

As a result of the lowered tariffs, Ford and GM stocks soared on Tuesday and Wednesday. On Thursday, the trend continued as the US Department of Commerce initiated an investigation into the safety issues regarding automobile imports.

Last week, eToro announced that they are launching a cryptocurrency exchange and an e-wallet. At the same time eToro also announced that they are planning to expand their business to the American market where CFDs are banned but cryptocurrencies are allowed. The exchange will be unique in many ways, and for the first time ever, cryptocurrency traders will be allowed to enjoy copy trading features.

IFX Expo – the world’s largest financial B2B expo – is currently being held in Limassol, Cyprus. BullMarketz.com is of course there to represent our brand and nurture great business relationships.

Norway’s central bank, Norges Bank, published a report on national cryptocurrencies. In the report, they discuss the possibilities of introducing a digital currency in the country to fight the lack of cash use. Even though the report was quite positive on the subject, the bank did declare that they weren’t prepared to do anything yet since the cryptocurrency market is too young and immature.

PayPal announced that they are buying the Swedish payment provider iZettle in a record-breaking billion dollar deal. The deal will give PayPal access to iZettle’s physical payment services that are already available in hundreds of thousands of stores around the world. It will also help the company further establish itself as a leader in the industry. Moreover, iZettle is planning for an IPO later this year which PayPal will now benefit from.

The NYSE has made history after appointing its first female president. Stacey Cunningham, who started her career on the NYSE trading floor in the mid-1990s, will take over as the president of the NYSE on Friday. This means that the two leading stock exchanges in the world will be run by women – in January 2017 Adena Friedman took over as the CEO of Nasdaq.

The Micron stock has been soaring for all of 2018 and the stock spiked after the company announced that they are buying back $10 billion worth of stocks from Intel. At the time of writing, Micron’s stock is up close to 50 percent year to date.
